Job summary

ISS UK Limited is seeking a Catering Assistant to join our school catering team. You will help prepare and serve meals, maintain cleanliness, and ensure food safety in a supportive, friendly environment.

The role runs Monday to Friday, 11:15–13:15, with a permanent contract and a term-time-only salary paid monthly on an annualised pay basis. The hourly rate is £12.71, and DBS checks are required as part of onboarding.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in a catering, food service, hospitality, or customer-facing role desirable.
• Commitment to safeguarding, food safety, and delivering excellent service.
• Ability to follow procedures, and instructions accurately.
• Positive, reliable, and team-focused approach.

Responsibilities

• Support the preparation, presentation, and serving of meals.
• Set up and clear dining areas as required.
• Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene, and cleanliness.
• Follow allergen, dietary, and special meal requirements.
• Receive, store, and handle food deliveries correctly.
• Operate tills where required.
• Report any health and safety concerns, accidents, or equipment faults.
• Provide a friendly and professional service to students, staff, and visitors.
• Work collaboratively as part of the catering team to deliver an excellent customer experience.
