Job summary

Herons Dale Primary School in Shoreham-by-Sea seeks a part-time Catering Assistant to prepare nutritious meals and support pupils at mealtimes. The role emphasizes a welcoming atmosphere, student welfare, and adherence to health and safety rules.

Qualifications

• Experience in catering with good customer service and strong written and verbal communication.
• Good at communicating and can connect well with children and staff.
• Level 2 Food Safety Certificate, or understanding of Food Safety.
• Basic literacy and numeracy skills.
• Experience with Health & Safety procedures in a commercial setting.
• Understanding of differing needs of young people with SEN.
• Genuine passion for promoting healthy and balanced eating.

Responsibilities

• Support day-to-day kitchen operations including preparation, cooking, and cleaning to required standards, maintaining hygiene and safety.
• Thriving in a busy environment and supporting colleagues to maintain high professional standards.
• Active role involving regular lifting, moving and handling of large equipment.
• Follow written documentation for Health & Safety and Food Safety legislation and business requirements.
