Job summary

Outwood Academy Brumby is seeking a catering assistant to prepare, cook and serve meals to strict hygiene standards. The role runs 25 hours per week, on weekdays from 9.15am to 2.15pm, during term time plus three additional days.

Applicants should hold Level 2 food hygiene certification or equivalent and be able to work both independently and as part of a team, with a satisfactory DBS check required.

Job description

A catering assistant post at Outwood Academy Brumby, an academy of around 750 students run by Outwood Grange Academies Trust. The role centres on preparing, cooking and serving food to strict hygiene standards, along with washing up and cleaning catering areas each day. It runs for 25 hours a week over weekdays from 9.15am to 2.15pm, during term time plus three additional days. A Level 2 food hygiene qualification or equivalent experience and a satisfactory DBS check are needed.

What the job involves

• Prepare, cook and serve food and beverages as directed, producing high-standard meals daily
• Follow food hygiene, cleanliness, health and safety and COSHH regulations at all times
• Wash dishes, cutlery, containers and all catering equipment
• Clean all catering areas daily to an agreed standard, free from hazards
• Operate as a cashier as required and under supervision
• Operate kitchen equipment safely
• Report all accidents and incidents

What’s required

Qualifications

• Level 2 food hygiene certificate or equivalent, or demonstrable experience at that level

Experience

• Experience or knowledge of working with food in a kitchen environment
• Experience and understanding of customer service
