Job summary

Reed is seeking a reliable Caretaker for a busy primary school in Rugby. The role is temporary to permanent, with Full-Time hours and flexibility on start times. The salary is an hourly rate PAYE dependent on experience, with a permanent salary to be confirmed if progression occurs.

The successful candidate will maintain the site, perform routine repairs, ensure health and safety, and liaise with contractors. An enhanced DBS check is required or willingness to obtain one.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in caretaker, facilities, or similar role.
• Basic DIY and maintenance skills.
• Good understanding of health and safety practices.
• Ability to work independently and use initiative.
• Strong reliability, punctuality, and communication skills.
• Flexible, hands-on approach to work.

Responsibilities

• Opening and securing the premises as required.
• Carrying out routine maintenance and minor repairs.
• Ensuring the site, grounds, and communal areas are clean, safe, and well-presented.
• Conducting regular health and safety checks.
• Monitoring and reporting maintenance issues.
• Liaising with contractors and overseeing visitor access.
• Setting up rooms and facilities for meetings or events when required.
• Supporting emergency procedures and responding to site-related issues.
