Qualifications

• Experience as School Caretaker or similar facilities role.

• Reliable, organized, able to work independently.
• Enhanced DBS is required.

Responsibilities

• Manage the daily upkeep, maintenance and security of the school site.
• Maintain accurate records relating to maintenance, compliance, health and safety, and PPM checks.
• Carry out minor repairs and general maintenance duties.
• Undertake basic DIY tasks; painting and decorating advantageous.
• Ensure the premises remain clean, safe and fully operational.
• Liaise with contractors and oversee works carried out on site.
• Assist with setting up rooms and site logistics for events and activities.
• Support compliance procedures, including asbestos awareness and site safety monitoring.
• Identify and report health, safety or security issues promptly.

School Caretaker/Site Manager

Location: Warrington
Contract Type: Full-time, Temporary (initially 3 months, ongoing)
Hours: 37 hours per week
Start Date: ASAP

Working Hours

Monday to Friday, split shift:

• 7:30am – 11:00am
• 2:15pm – 6:00pm

The school may also consider a 7:30am – 3:30pm straight-through shift, subject to agreement.

About the Role

We are looking for a dependable, proactive and practical School Caretaker / Site Manager to support the smooth day-to-day operation of a busy school in Warrington.

This is a key role within the school, helping to maintain a safe, secure, clean and welcoming environment for pupils, staff and visitors.

The successful candidate will be practical, organised and able to work independently, while also contributing positively as part of the wider school team. You will take pride in maintaining high standards across the site and ensuring the school premises remain safe, secure and fully operational.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the daily upkeep, maintenance and security of the school site.
• Maintain accurate records relating to maintenance, compliance, health and safety, and planned preventative maintenance (PPM) checks.
• Carry out minor repairs and general maintenance duties.
• Undertake basic DIY tasks; experience in painting and decorating would be advantageous.
• Ensure the school premises remain clean, safe and fully operational.
• Liaise with contractors and oversee works carried out on site.
• Assist with setting up rooms and supporting site logistics for school events and activities.
• Support the school’s compliance procedures, including asbestos awareness and site safety monitoring.
• Identify and report any maintenance, health and safety or security issues promptly.

Requirements

• Previous experience working as a School Caretaker, Site Manager, Facilities Assistant or in a similar facilities/maintenance role.
• Strong practical maintenance and DIY skills.
• A good understanding of health and safety requirements, including fire safety, Legionella awareness and asbestos awareness.
• Reliable, organised and able to work independently using your own initiative.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• A flexible and proactive approach to the role.
• A current Enhanced DBS
• Availability to start immediately.
