Job summary

Smile Education is recruiting an experienced School Caretaker to join a local school in Stockport, SK4. You will be responsible for site security, maintenance and daily checks to ensure a safe learning environment.

Applicants must have previous school caretaker experience and an Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service. You will work on-site, support contractors, and maintain safe access routes while following safeguarding procedures.

Qualifications

• Enhanced DBS registered on Update Service required.
• Previous caretaker or site maintenance experience in a school or similar environment.
• Ability to perform basic repairs and follow health and safety procedures.
• Right to work in the UK.

Responsibilities

• Open and secure the school site as required.
• Carry out daily site, security and health and safety checks.
• Carry out minor repairs and general maintenance.
• Monitor the building, grounds and facilities.
• Support contractors and maintenance visits as needed.
• Report larger repairs promptly.
• Assist with moving equipment, furniture and deliveries.
• Maintain safe access routes and external areas.

School Caretaker

Stockport, SK4

£16-18 per hour | ASAP start | Long-term

Smile Education are recruiting for an experienced School Caretaker to work within a school in Stockport, SK4.

This role is only suitable for candidates with previous caretaker/site experience within a school or similar setting who already hold an Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service. Applicants without both of these requirements will not be considered.

Key Responsibilities

• Open and secure the school site where required.
• Complete daily site, security and health and safety checks.
• Carry out minor repairs and general maintenance.
• Monitor the condition of the building, grounds and facilities.
• Support contractors and maintenance visits where required.
• Respond to site issues and report larger repairs appropriately.
• Assist with moving equipment, furniture and deliveries.
• Maintain safe access routes and external areas.
• Follow school safeguarding, security and health and safety procedures.

Requirements

• Previous experience working as a Caretaker, Site Supervisor, Site Assistant or similar is essential.
• Experience must be within a school or similar facilities/site environment.
• You must currently hold an Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service.
• Applicants without a DBS on the Update Service will not be considered.
• You must have practical maintenance and basic repair skills.
• You should have a good understanding of site security and health and safety.
• You must be reliable, organised and able to work independently.
• You must have the right to work in the UK.
