Job summary

The Society of Heads is seeking a School Caretaker to support the Estates and Facilities team with caretaking and general maintenance across the School site. The role includes driving duties as needed and may involve security responsibilities.

The post supports both Reed’s School and Ripley Court School and may require weekend rota shifts. Key tasks include setting up for assemblies, managing events, driving the minibus, reporting maintenance issues, and ensuring a safe, well-heated environment

Responsibilities

• Set out and put away furniture for assemblies, exams or events.
• Carry out car parking duties for events.
• Drive the school minibus and collect materials for maintenance.
• Identify maintenance issues and report to managers.
• Respond to emergencies and requests from Site Operations Manager and Fire Safety Officer.
• Ensure the School is secure and maintained, with safe environment for users.
• Unlock/lock buildings, arm/de-arm alarms, and conduct security checks.
• Be aware of security issues during and out of hours.
• Assist with external lettings when required.
• Check energy and water consumption and read meters.
• Participate in security rota as required.
• Provide emergency cover as required.
• Support Health and Safety management within Maintenance.
• Cover out-of-hours alarms at Ripley Court School.
• Assist with work at Ripley Court School as needed.
• Carry out other duties as instructed.
• Promote and safeguard welfare of children and young persons.
