Job summary

Downend School is seeking a dedicated Caretaker to join our team on a permanent contract. You will be the go-to person for keeping the school safe, welcoming, and running smoothly for pupils and staff, working closely with the School Operations Manager.

Key duties include general maintenance, security, grounds checks, and supervising cleaners/contractors. We value reliable tradespeople with initiative and a focus on health and safety, and an enhanced DBS check is required.

Qualifications

• Solid experience or skills in building maintenance, plumbing, electrics, gardening, or cleaning.

Responsibilities

• General DIY & Maintenance: handling everyday repairs and basic carpentry/tasks.
• Security & Keyholding: locking up and setting alarms to keep the site secure.
• Grounds & Safety Checks: daily site checks, grit/snow management and safety testing.
