Job summary

Wayman Education is seeking a reliable School Caretaker for a West Yorkshire school. You will manage site security, routine maintenance, health & safety checks, grounds upkeep, and supervise contractors to keep facilities safe and ready for learning.

Qualifications

Strong DIY abilities in carpentry, plumbing, or general repairs.
Able to perform manual handling, climb ladders, and be on feet most of the day.
Reliable, punctual, and trustworthy with site security.
Solid knowledge of health and safety regulations and IOSH/COSHH training (preferred).
Clear communication with staff, students, and visitors.

Responsibilities

Site Security: Open/close the school and ensure the building is secure.
General Maintenance: Carry out repairs, plumbing, joinery and decorating tasks.
Health & Safety: Conduct safety checks, fire alarm testing, Legionella prevention, playground inspections.
Grounds Upkeep: Keep grounds tidy, safe, and litter-free; grit paths in winter.
Contractor Liaison: Supervise external contractors on-site and monitor cleaning standards.
Manual Handling: Assist with movement of furniture and delivery of supplies.
