Job summary

Academics is seeking an experienced Caretaker to support a Primary School and potentially work across multiple schools within the same Trust. The role requires practical, reliable, hands-on individuals with a good range of maintenance skills and a strong focus on health and safety.

The ideal candidate will have prior Caretaker, Site Assistant or Premises experience, basic repairs ability and good communication with school staff. DBS enhanced (or willingness to obtain) is preferred.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Caretaker or similar role in schools or Trust facilities.
• Solid general maintenance and DIY capability.
• Ability to perform basic repairs and routine maintenance tasks.
• Good understanding of health and safety practices.
• Ability to spot and report maintenance issues promptly.
• Strong organisational skills and proactive work approach.
• Clear communication with school staff; DBS checked or willing to obtain enhanced DBS.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe, clean and welcoming school environment.
• Carry out general site maintenance and repairs as required.
• Work across multiple schools within the Trust as needed.
• Identify and report maintenance issues and safety concerns.
• Coordinate with school staff and managers to support site operations.

Primary School Caretaker

I'm currently looking for an experienced Caretaker to support a Primary School, with the potential to work across a number of schools within the same Trust.

We're looking for someone who is practical, reliable and hands-on, with a good range of general maintenance skills.

The ideal candidate will have:

• Previous experience as a Caretaker, Site Assistant, Premises Assistant or similar
• Good general maintenance and DIY skills
• Ability to carry out basic repairs and maintenance
• Good understanding of health & safety
• Ability to identify and report maintenance issues
• Strong organisational skills and a proactive approach
• Good communication skills and the ability to work effectively with school staff
• Enhanced DBS (or be willing to obtain one)

The role would suit someone who takes pride in maintaining a safe, clean and welcoming school environment and is comfortable working independently.
