Job summary

PK Education is seeking reliable and proactive Bank Caretakers to support day-to-day operation and maintenance of school sites across Sheffield. This flexible, as-needed role fits around other commitments while contributing to the safe and well-run educational environment.

As a Bank Caretaker you will perform routine site inspections, basic maintenance, cleaning, and opening/closing premises. You may assist with events and grounds upkeep, while reporting issues to supervisors and maintaining

Qualifications

• Experience in caretaker, facilities, maintenance, or site support preferred.
• Ability to carry out basic maintenance and practical tasks safely and effectively.
• Strong awareness of health and safety practices.
• Reliable, punctual, and flexible approach to work.

Responsibilities

• Carry out routine site inspections to ensure premises are safe, secure and well-maintained.
• Undertake basic maintenance and repair tasks across school buildings and grounds.
• Ensure school facilities are clean, tidy and ready for daily use.
• Open and secure school premises as required.
• Monitor and report maintenance issues, hazards or security concerns to the supervisor.
• Assist with room setups, furniture movement and preparation for school events and activities.
• Maintain external areas including pathways, entrances and outdoor spaces.
• Follow all health and safety procedures and site-specific regulations.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out routine site inspections to ensure the premises remain safe, secure, and well-maintained
• Undertake basic maintenance and repair tasks across school buildings and grounds
• Ensure school facilities are clean, tidy, and ready for daily use
• Open and secure school premises as required
• Monitor and report maintenance issues, hazards, or security concerns to the appropriate supervisor
• Assist with room setups, furniture movement, and preparation for school events and activities
• Maintain external areas including pathways, entrances, and outdoor spaces
• Follow all health and safety procedures and site-specific regulations

Requirements

• Previous caretaker, facilities, maintenance, or site support experience preferred but not essential
• Ability to carry out basic maintenance and practical tasks safely and effectively
• Strong awareness of health and safety practices
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Reliable, punctual, and flexible approach to work
• Good problem-solving skills and attention to detail
• Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one)
