Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment is seeking experienced School Caretakers to work on a flexible supply basis across Derby and surrounding areas. The role covers caretaking, facilities maintenance and site duties in various school settings with work patterns varying by school requirements.

The ideal candidate will be reliable, practical and capable of handling general maintenance, health and safety checks, and coordinating with contractors. DBS Update Service or willingness to obtain one is expected.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in caretaking, maintenance, facilities, estates or a similar role.
• Good practical and problem-solving skills.
• Proactive and reliable approach to work.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Good communication and organisational skills.
• An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service, or willingness to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Opening and securing school premises.
• Carrying out general maintenance and minor repairs.
• Ensuring school buildings, grounds and facilities are safe and well maintained.
• Completing routine health and safety checks.
• Identifying and reporting maintenance issues and potential hazards.
• Supporting contractors and external visitors when required.
• Setting up and moving furniture and equipment.
• Maintaining outdoor areas and school grounds.
• Responding to maintenance requests from school staff.
• Supporting the school with general site and facilities duties.
• Ensuring the school environment remains safe, clean and welcoming for pupils and staff.

Tradewind Recruitment is seeking reliable, practical and hardworking School Caretakers to work on a supply basis across schools throughout Derby and the surrounding areas. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with experience in caretaking, facilities management, maintenance, estates or a similar role who is looking for flexible working opportunities. Due to the nature of working on a supply basis, you may be required to work across a variety of school settings throughout Derby and the local area. This provides an excellent opportunity to gain experience within different schools and environments while enjoying flexibility over your working arrangements. Working hours will vary depending on the school's requirements, with both short-term and longer-term assignments available.

The Role
