• Prepare rooms for events and assist with deliveries and setup.

Are you a practical, hands-on person who takes pride in maintaining a safe, clean, secure, and welcoming environment? We are working in partnership with a welcoming primary school in Corby that is looking to appoint a reliable and proactive Caretaker / Maintenance Technician to join their site team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with experience in maintenance, caretaking, facilities, construction, or a practical trade who wants to use their skills within an educational environment.

The Role

• Maintaining school buildings, grounds, fixtures, fittings, and equipment
• Carrying out routine and semi-skilled repairs and maintenance
• Completing minor building, decorating, flooring, fencing, and repair work
• Installing and maintaining fixtures and fittings
• Carrying out preventive maintenance and reporting faults or damage
• Opening the school and completing daily site and safety checks
• Supporting fire, security, emergency lighting, water, and other routine checks
• Maintaining high standards of cleanliness, hygiene, and site security
• Keeping pathways, grounds, fire exits, and access routes safe and clear
• Preparing the site for adverse weather conditions
• Monitoring heating, utilities, and energy usage
• Receiving deliveries and moving furniture and equipment around the school
• Setting up rooms for events, assemblies, and meetings
• Ensuring tools and equipment are safe, secure, and well maintained
• Working closely with school staff to ensure the site remains safe, secure, and fit for purpose

This Role Could Be Ideal If You

• Have experience as a Caretaker, Maintenance Technician, Facilities Assistant, Handyperson, Site Assistant, or in a similar role
• Have a background in maintenance, construction, property, facilities, or a skilled trade
• Are confident carrying out practical repairs and using a range of tools
• Enjoy solving problems and working with your hands
• Can work independently and use your own initiative
• Are reliable, proactive, and take pride in maintaining high standards
• Have good communication skills and can work professionally around children and staff
• Understand the importance of health & safety and safeguarding
• Have previous school experience - desirable but not essential
• Hold a relevant trade qualification such as carpentry, electrical, or plumbing - desirable
