Job summary

Academics is recruiting a School Caretaker in Doncaster for a temporary Autumn Term role. You will join a small site team to maintain a safe, secure and well-presented school environment, carrying out repairs, basic maintenance and security tasks.

The role requires practical maintenance skills, DBS status or willingness to obtain, and availability during school holidays. Pay ranges from £14.24 to £15 per hour, paid via PAYE with support from a local consultant.

Qualifications

• Previous caretaking or facilities experience in a school setting.
• Practical skills in maintenance, plumbing, carpentry and decorating.
• Understanding of fire safety and health and safety practices.
• GCSEs in Maths and English; DBS check or willingness to obtain.

Responsibilities

• Carry out minor repairs and general maintenance.
• Support with basic plumbing, carpentry, painting and decorating.
• Assist with fire safety duties and site checks.
• Maintain outdoor areas and assist with security and upkeep.
• Work with the site team to keep the school premises welcoming.

Are you an experienced School Caretaker looking for your next opportunity in Doncaster?

Academics, an established education agency, are actively recruiting for a School Caretaker to join a secondary education setting in the Doncaster area on a temporary basis for the Autumn Term.

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced School Caretaker in Doncaster to join a supportive site team and play an important role in maintaining a safe, secure and well-presented school environment.

About the Role

Working as a School Caretaker in Doncaster, you will be responsible for supporting the day-to-day upkeep, maintenance and security of the school site.

The successful School Caretaker will work as part of a small team and carry out a range of practical duties to ensure the premises remain safe, functional and welcoming for pupils, staff and visitors.

Your duties may include:

• Carrying out minor repairs and general maintenance
• Basic plumbing and carpentry work
• Painting and decorating where required
• Supporting with fire safety duties and site checks
• Maintaining outdoor areas and carrying out litter picking
• Assisting with the general security and upkeep of the school premises
• Working collaboratively with other members of the site team

Working Hours

• Monday to Thursday: 9:00am - 5:00pm
• Friday: 9:00am - 4:00pm
• 5 days per week
• Temporary role for the Autumn Term
• Availability to work during school holidays is essential

All mandatory training will be provided.

School Caretaker Requirements

To be considered for this School Caretaker role in Doncaster, you should have:

• Previous caretaking, maintenance, facilities or site management experience
• Practical experience carrying out minor repairs and general maintenance
• Knowledge or experience of plumbing, carpentry, painting and decorating
• Understanding of fire safety procedures
• Knowledge of Health and Safety legislation and facilities management practices
• GCSEs in Maths and English
• The ability to work effectively as part of a small team
• Good communication and organisational skills
• A reliable, proactive and practical approach
• An Enhanced DBS Certificate, or willingness to obtain one
• Availability to work during school holidays
