Job summary

Education Authority in Down-Newry-Rathfriland High School is seeking a part-time Catering Assistant to support daily operations in the school canteen. You will assist with food prep, serving, and maintaining a hygienic dining area, under supervision, contributing to a positive pupil dining experience.

The role runs 9:30am–2:00pm, Monday to Friday (20 hours weekly) and includes a retainer during school holidays. Training and safety compliance are part of the role.

Qualifications

• Willingness to undertake job related training.
• Effective communication skills to support team working and engagement with customers.
• Excellent interpersonal and team working skills.
• Effective organisational and planning skills and the ability to work under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Basic preparation of food and beverages, including vegetables and snacks.
• Simple cooking and reconstitution of prepared food.
• Organising and controlling food service points.
• Transferring and serving meals and snacks, including transported meals.
• Assisting with promotion of meals to pupils, parents and principal.
• Maintaining contact with central kitchen regarding service delivery.
