Job summary

The Education Authority is seeking a Catering Assistant for Ballyclare Ballyclare Secondary School. This part-time post covers 12.5 hours weekly, Monday to Friday (times to be confirmed) in a school catering unit.

You will work under the direction of the Senior/Unit Catering Supervisor to provide a hygienic, customer-focused service. Responsibilities include food prep, simple cooking, serving meals, dining room setup, and maintaining cleanliness.

Qualifications

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
• Willingness to undertake job-related training.

Responsibilities

• Basic preparation of food and beverages, including vegetables and snacks.
• Simple cooking and reconstitution of prepared food.
• Organising and controlling food service points.
• Transferring and serving meals and snacks to pupils.
• Assisting with promotion of meals to pupils, parents and staff.
• Maintaining contact with central kitchen regarding service delivery.
• Preparing the dining area and setting tables, cutlery and utensils.
• General kitchen and dining room duties including cleaning and washing up.
• Cleaning kitchen, servery and dining areas and equipment.
• Recording temperatures for control purposes as required.
• Securing premises as required.
• Completing duties as delegated for service provision.
• Complying with Acts, regulations and codes of practice.
• Carrying out duties within working conditions of the job.
• Completing necessary administration and reporting.
• Carrying out duties within competence of the employee.
• Promoting and adhering to the values/ethos of the school.
