Job summary

The Gatton Trust is seeking an Estate Gardener to maintain the historic gardens of Gatton Park and support its community and education activities.

You will work with a small staff team and volunteers, bringing passion for horticulture to the day-to-day upkeep and development of the grounds.

The role is based on Gatton Park, with opportunities to contribute to landscape projects and events.

Qualifications

• Must have a passion for horticulture and either a relevant horticultural qualification or practical gardening experience.
• Ability to maintain historic gardens and grounds.

Responsibilities

• Undertake day-to-day hands-on maintenance of Gatton Park's historic gardens.
• Contribute to ongoing development and presentation of the grounds.

Your Role

The Gatton Trust

Our small staff team and 150 volunteers works to restore and maintain the 'Capability' Brown landscape and Edwardian gardens of Gatton Park. The estate is used by the Trust for community activities, events and education groups. This work sits alongside the main purpose of the site - as the home to the Royal Alexandra and Albert School.

The School

The Royal Alexandra and Albert School exists to give our children a distinctly different start in life, preparing them for the world with hope, optimism, compassion and empathy.

We are a co-educational, non-selective state boarding school, for boys and girls aged 7 - 18. This is a boarding school with Flexi Boarding students attending from the local area and a lively community of around 400 Full Boarders, passionately involved in a wide range of after-school and weekend activities and trips.

The Role

We are looking for an Estate Gardener to undertake the day to day hands on maintenance and development of the historic gardens of Gatton Park.

Must have a passion for horticulture and either a relevant horticultural qualification or practical gardening experience.
