Job summary

Ground Control in Egham is seeking a dedicated Gardener for a prestigious hotel site to maintain lawns, borders and hedges while delivering exceptional outdoor standards. This role is permanent and part-time, with weekend hours and a focus on practical horticultural work.

You will contribute to landscape improvements, operate and maintain tools safely, and follow health and safety procedures. A driving licence is desirable, and spraying qualifications are advantageous.

Qualifications

• Practical grounds maintenance or horticultural experience in a similar environment.
• Passion for gardening and maintaining high-quality outdoor spaces.
• Willingness to take ownership and work both in a team and independently.
• Understanding of health and safety practices in grounds maintenance.
• PA1/PA6A qualifications are advantageous; driving licence is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality grounds maintenance across mowing, strimming, pruning, hedge cutting and general gardening.
• Support landscape improvements by proposing planting and presentation enhancements.
• Carry out spraying activities where qualified and maintain safe, well-kept equipment.
• Maintain a safe working environment following health, safety and environmental procedures.
• Contribute ideas to improve efficiency, reduce waste, and support contract-wide improvements.

We're looking for a Gardener to join our team at a prestigious hotel, helping to maintain and enhance grounds that play an important part in every guest's experience. You'll work across a variety of horticultural tasks, have the opportunity to contribute ideas for improvements, and take pride in seeing the impact of your work every day.

What You'll Do

In this role, you'll help maintain exceptional outdoor spaces that enhance the guest experience and uphold the high standards expected across the site.

• Deliver high-quality grounds maintenance activities, including mowing, strimming, pruning, hedge cutting and general gardening, ensuring the site remains attractive and well-presented throughout the year.
• Support the ongoing improvement of the landscape by identifying opportunities to enhance planting, presentation and overall site appearance.
• Carry out spraying activities where qualified, helping to maintain healthy and visually appealing grounds.
• Take ownership of the tools, machinery and vehicles you use, ensuring they remain safe, clean, well-maintained and ready for daily operations.
• Maintain a safe working environment by following health, safety and environmental procedures, helping to protect colleagues, visitors and hotel guests.
• Contribute ideas that improve efficiency, reduce waste and support continuous improvement across the contract.

What We're Looking For

• Practical grounds maintenance or horticultural experience gained in a similar environment.
• A genuine passion for gardening and maintaining high-quality outdoor spaces.
• A positive, proactive approach and a willingness to take ownership of your work.
• Strong team-working skills, alongside the ability to work independently when required.
• A good understanding of health and safety practices within grounds maintenance operations.
• Confidence using machinery, equipment and handheld technology in line with training and experience.
• Good communication skills and a customer-focused attitude.
• PA1 and PA6A spraying qualifications would be advantageous.
• Formal horticultural qualifications would be beneficial.
• A full UK driving licence would be desirable.
