Job summary

New Hall School is seeking a dedicated Swim Teacher to join its Saturday Swim Programme, delivering high-quality lessons to pupils of all ages in a thriving facility. Reporting to the Head of Swimming, you will help extend the Learn to Swim programme and support assessment and progression throughout the academic year.

Applicants should hold a Level 2 Swimming Teacher qualification, have experience in an educational setting, and possess excellent communication and safeguarding commitments

Qualifications

• Clear understanding of the aims and ethos of a Catholic independent boarding and day school.
• Level 2 Swimming Teacher qualification (or above).
• Previous experience of working in a School or similar educational environment.
• Excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to build positive and professional relationships with students, parents and staff.
• Commitment to safeguarding the welfare of students.
• Calm, approachable and empathetic manner when working with young people.

Responsibilities

• Deliver swimming lessons in line with Swim England standards and the quality expectations of New Hall School.
• Assist in the development and delivery of the swimming teaching programme.
• Teach all levels of the Swim England Learn to Swim programme.
• Complete end-of-term swimming assessments and monitor pupil progress.
• Communicate effectively with the Head of Swimming and colleagues regarding swimmer development and achievement.
• Maintain accurate records of lessons and pupil attendance.
• Foster positive working relationships based on care, trust and respect.
• Ensure the safety and welfare of all swimmers and helpers on the poolside.
• Ensure swimming equipment is stored safely and report damaged equipment promptly.
• Comply with Health & Safety, Medical and First Aid policies and procedures.
