Qualifications

• Hold a Level 2 Swimming Teacher qualification (or above).
• Experience in a school or similar educational environment.
• Clear understanding of safeguarding and welfare of students.

• Excellent communication and ability to build relationships with students, parents and staff.

Responsibilities

• Deliver swimming lessons in line with Swim England standards and school expectations.
• Assist in developing and delivering the swimming teaching programme.
• Teach all levels of the Swim England Learn to Swim programme.
• Complete end-of-term swimming assessments and monitor pupil progress.
• Communicate with the Head of Swimming and colleagues regarding swimmer development.
• Maintain accurate records of lessons and pupil attendance.
• Foster positive working relationships with students, parents and staff.
• Ensure the safety and welfare of all swimmers and helpers on poolside.
• Report damaged equipment promptly and ensure equipment is stored safely.
• Comply with Health & Safety, Medical and First Aid policies and procedures.

About This Role

New Hall School is seeking to appoint a dedicated and passionate Swim Teacher (Saturday) to join its thriving Swim Programme, delivering high-quality swimming instruction to students of all ages and abilities. Reporting to the Head of Swimming, the successful candidate will contribute to a well-established programme that offers opportunities for swimmers to learn, develop and compete throughout the academic year, supported by excellent facilities including a 25-metre indoor swimming pool, and a dedicated team of experienced swimming professionals.

Key Responsibilities

• to assist in the development and delivery of the swimming teaching programme
• to teach all levels of the Swim England Learn to Swim programme

• to communicate effectively with the Head of Swimming and colleagues regarding swimmer development and achievement

• to ensure the safety and welfare of all swimmers and helpers on the poolside
• to ensure swimming equipment is stored safely and to report damaged equipment promptly

The Successful Candidate Will Be Expected

• to have a clear understanding of, and commitment to, the aims and ethos of a Catholic independent boarding and day school
• to hold a Level 2 Swimming Teacher qualification (or above)
• to have previous experience of working in a School or similar educational environment
• to have excellent communication, organisational, and interpersonal skills
• to demonstrate the ability to build positive and professional relationships with students, parents and staff
• to have a clear understanding of the importance of promoting and safeguarding the welfare of students
• to demonstrate a calm, approachable, and empathetic manner when working with young people

New Hall School offers an exceptional working environment. The main campus occupies the stunning Grade I listed former Tudor palace of Beaulieu. The School’s conference and events venue is at the Grade I listed Boreham House, one mile away. New Hall is a warm, welcoming, and supportive community, with a staff of around 300.

Beaulieu Park railway station is at the entrance to New Hall’s Avenue: 30 minutes to Stratford and 38 minutes to London Liverpool Street. The Elizabeth Line at Shenfield (13 minutes by train) terminates at Heathrow airport. There are nearby airports: London Stansted, London Southend and London City.
