Job summary

Essex and Suffolk Water is hiring a Sampler Technician to join our Water Sampling Operations team. You will travel across the Essex region to sample, carry out chlorine measurements and related tests to ensure water quality meets high standards.

The role supports 24/7 coverage, requiring flexibility, reliability and a full UK driving licence. DBS check and drug/alcohol testing are required prior to employment.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of Sampling and Analysis Regulations (DWI) drinking water regulations, MCERTS.
• Good understanding of sampling processes and methods.
• Experience in UKAS Laboratory accredited environment (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Sample and carry out chlorine measurements and other tests to ensure water quality.
• Travel across the Essex region to sites for sampling.
• Support 24/7 regional coverage and 365-day operations.

Salary: from £26,180 to £30,800 per year (depending on experience)

Location: Hanningfield, Chelmsford, Essex (with travel across the ESW Essex Operating Region)

Our Sampler Technicians travel across the Essex region, sampling and carrying out chlorine measurements and other tests to make sure we’re meeting our high-quality standards.

Water is a 24/7, regional business, and our Sampler Technicians offer 365-day cover and enjoy being out and about, travelling to customer sites.

About You

If you are highly self-motivated, able to work to deadlines and have a flexible and positive ‘can do’ attitude, we want to hear from you.

You will understand Sampling and Analysis Regulations (DWI drinking water regulations, MCERTS and Private Water Supply) and have a good working knowledge of sampling processes and methods.

You will have good written and verbal communication skills along with strong attention to detail to manage the quality system.

You will be reliable and adaptable to changing and challenging situations. Ideally you will have previous sampling experience and have worked in a UKAS Laboratory accredited environment.

The successful candidate will need a Full UK Manual driving licence.

Please note this role will require a DBS to be completed prior to employment.

This role has also been defined as a safety or security critical role and as a condition of a formal offer of employment you’ll be required to undergo a drug and alcohol test.

Prospective employees and agency workers in defined safety and security critical roles will be required to undertake a drug and alcohol test after the job offer has been made. This will be prior to or within four weeks of their start date.
