Job summary

Elevation Recruitment Group is seeking a Sales Estimating Engineer for a specialist engineering and manufacturing business in Sutton-in-Ashfield. You will evaluate and prepare sales tenders, work with customers and internal engineering teams to secure orders, and support the sales process from enquiry through to order and handover.

The role requires an engineering or technical background with estimating or tendering experience and strong communication.

Job description

A specialist engineering and manufacturing business is looking to appoint a Sales Estimating Engineer to join its sales team.

The role will focus on preparing estimates and tenders, supporting the sales process and working closely with customers and internal engineering teams to secure new orders.

The Role

As a Sales Estimating Engineer, you will be responsible for evaluating and preparing sales tenders, liaising with prospective customers and supporting projects from initial enquiry through to order and engineering handover.

Key responsibilities will include:

• Preparing and evaluating sales tenders in conjunction with the sales team.
• Liaising with potential new customers at enquiry stage.
• Ensuring estimates and tenders comply with relevant engineering standards and procedures.
• Supporting customers through the order process.
• Preparing contract folders for engineering handover and attending handover meetings.
• Maintaining customer relationships throughout the enquiry and post-order stages.
• Working closely with Engineering to ensure agreed build specifications and site requirements are understood and delivered.
• Supporting the engineering team with contract cost variations.
• Assessing new products, materials and techniques alongside sales and engineering colleagues.
• Attending internal meetings and customer meetings or site visits where required.
• Where CAD skills are available, assisting with Sales General Arrangement drawings and single-line power schematics using AutoCAD.

About You

You will ideally have an engineering or technical background with an understanding of estimating, tendering or customer-facing technical sales.

The ability to communicate effectively with customers and colleagues is important, as is a methodical approach to preparing accurate estimates.

Experience with AutoCAD and the ability to produce general arrangement drawings or single-line power schematics would be advantageous, but is not essential.
