IKEA Exeter is looking for a Sales Department Manager to join the team and lead a busy retail environment where every day brings new opportunities to contribute.

As a key member of the sales management team, you will motivate your staff, drive sales targets, and turn customer needs into meaningful solutions while upholding the IKEA values. You’ll create an inspiring shopping experience and help develop co-workers across the store.

Qualifications

  • You bring at least three years of experience managing people in a commercial retail environment.
  • You have a forward-thinking mindset, collaborating with your team to guide your department and taking advantage of sales opportunities.
  • You guide others through the IKEA Values, inspiring the people around you by setting an example and assigning responsibilities when needed.
  • An enthusiasm for home furnishings and experience in selling, understanding customers and their needs.
  • Experience of leadership in a fast-paced environment with the ability to prioritise and organise your workload.
  • Business-minded with customer in focus to deliver results, ability to make quick decisions and take personal initiatives.
  • Leading others, you will have good communication skills that enable building relationships with co-workers and customers.
  • You will be someone who believes in and can work in line with the IKEA Concept and Brand Identity.

Responsibilities

  • Take responsibility for your department goals and implement country priorities in your store.
  • Respond promptly to commercial opportunities and ensure the shop is well maintained, priced and full.
  • Develop a knowledgeable team with knowledge of range and IKEA services for a great shopping experience.
  • Work with succession to identify the right people and ensure adequate staffing at the right time.

Job description

IKEA Exeter are lookin for a Sales Department Manager to join the team.

As a key member of our sales management team, you’ll lead with the IKEA values guiding your actions—motivating your team, improving sales results and turning customer needs into meaningful solutions. Together, you’ll create an inspiring shopping experience, develop skilled co-workers and help make our store a welcoming destination for everyone.

WHAT WE OFFER
  • Start Date of employment will be discussed during interview.
  • Starting salary of £34,000 per annum dependent on skills and experiences.
  • 39 hours a week, working 5 days over 7 (including 1 - 2 late shifts a week), including alternate weekends.
  • We operate 7 days a week to meet the shopping needs of our guests, so this role will require availability to work during the day, late evenings and full weekends.
  • We are happy to discuss flexibility and your availability at interview.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO HAVE
  • You bring at least three years of experience managing people in a commercial retail environment. A motivated and engaged leader, you will become an integral part of our sales management team, and you can demonstrate experience delivering to sales targets and organisational priorities.

  • You guide others through the IKEA Values, inspiring the people around you by setting an example and assigning responsibilities when needed. You work cross-functionally with other departments and, using your effective written and verbal communication skills, can promote flexibility, speed and simplicity.
  • An enthusiasm for home furnishings and experience in selling, understanding customers and their needs.
  • Experience of leadership in a fast-paced environment with the ability to prioritise and organise your own and others workload.
  • Business-minded with customer in focus to deliver results, ability to make quick decisions and take personal initiatives, open to change.
  • Leading others, you will have good communication skills that can enable building relationships with co-workers and customers.
  • You will be someone who believes in and can work in line with the IKEA Concept and Brand Identity.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING DAY TO DAY
  • Take responsibility for your department goals and secure that your action plan ensures the country priorities for your department are implemented in your store. You will follow up and take action accordingly by using proven solutions and good examples.
  • You respond promptly to commercial opportunities and take full responsibility for ensuring your shop is well maintained, clean, tidy, priced and full.
  • You develop a knowledgeable and capable team ensuring they all have the correct knowledge of the range and IKEA services, enabling them to share this with our customers to provide a great shopping experience.
  • With people at the heart of what you do, you will work with succession to identify the right people, whilst ensuring you have the right number of experienced co-workers in the right place at the right time.
