Job summary

Smyths Toys is seeking a Sales Assistant for our Stevenage Superstore. This temporary role offers £12.90 per hour for over 21s and £11.00 per hour for under 21s. You’ll deliver high quality customer service, assist shoppers, and work in a fast-paced team to keep the store clean, staffed, and up to date with products.

Flexibility is needed as stores open seven days a week. Benefits include a pension scheme, life assurance, EAP, parental payments, life-event gifts and equal opportunities employer

Qualifications

• Customer service skills for handling shoppers and inquiries.
• Retail experience is desirable but not essential.
• Basic cash handling and tills operation where required.

This is a temporary contract, with a rate of pay of £12.90 per hour for over 21 and £11.00 per hour for under 21.

Responsibilities

Provide a high level of customer service

Ascertain customers’ needs and wants

Work as part of a fast paced and dynamic team

Keep the store clean and tidy

Pack shelves and merchandise

Work delivery and complete price changes

Work on the tills

Learn about and keep up to date with our products in order to help customers

The Ideal Candidate

Retail experience in the following areas is highly desirable, but not essential:

Backdoor/Warehouse

Our stores are open 7 days a week so we need our Sales Assistants to be as flexible as possible.
