Job summary

STARK Building Materials UK's Jewson branch in Spennymoor (DL16 7RZ) is hiring a Part-Time Sales Advisor on a 26-hour-per-week contract. You will deliver a welcoming, professional service and build lasting customer relationships while developing product knowledge and supporting branch performance.

Responsibilities include processing orders, managing stock, and maintaining a safe, well-presented shop floor. The role offers overtime opportunities and a supportive team environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide welcoming, professional service to customers and build relationships.
• Develop product knowledge to provide accurate advice.
• Process orders, payments, deliveries and account updates using in-house systems.
• Receive, check and store deliveries and report damaged items.
• Maintain stock levels through replenishment and counts.
• Pick, pack, load and unload orders; forklift training provided.
• Maintain a clean, well-stocked shop floor, warehouse and customer areas.
• Follow Health & Safety policies and promote a safe environment.
• Support branch performance and contribute to sales and service improvements.
• Participate in training and undertake other duties as required.

Working Hours

Permanent, 26 hours per week

• Wednesday, Thursday and Friday: 7:30am - 4:30pm
• Every other Saturday: 8:00am - 12:00pm
• Flexibility to increase working hours to cover periods of annual leave and sickness absence.
• Overtime opportunities are available , subject to business requirements.

WhatYou'llBe Doing

• Provide a welcoming, professional service to customers, building strong relationships and understanding their needs to offer appropriate products and solutions.
• Develop and maintain a good knowledge of our product range to provide accurate advice and support.
• Process customer orders, payments, deliveries and account updates using in-house systems, keeping customers informed throughout their journey.
• Receive, check and store deliveries, reporting any missing or damaged items.
• Maintain accurate stock levels through replenishment and regular stock counts.
• Pick, pack, load and unload customer orders safely and efficiently, including manual handling and forklift operation (training provided).
• Maintain high standards of branch presentation, ensuring the shop floor, warehouse and customer areas are clean, organised and well-stocked.
• Comply with all Health & Safety policies, procedures and housekeeping standards, promoting a safe working environment for colleagues and customers.
• Support branch performance by contributing to sales, service improvements and wider business initiatives.
• Participate in ongoing training and development and undertake any other reasonable duties required to support the branch.
