Job description

We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic, highly motivated Salaried GP to join our friendly and supportive team. We are a 5 GP Partner Practice, based in an excellent, modern Health Centre in the centre of Accrington.

We are a large, forward-thinking practice with more than 17,000 patients, committed to delivering high-quality care.

About us

Our strength lies in the diverse skills and interests within our multidisciplinary team, including Doctors, Advanced Nurse Practitioners, Pharmacists, First Contact Physios, Practice Nurses, Healthcare Assistants, Nurse Associates, Mental Health Practitioners, Health and Wellbeing Coaches, and Social Prescribers. We benefit from a structured management team led by the Practice Operations and Strategic Manager. We are a training practice working closely with our Primary Care Network (Hyndburn Central), with active involvement from the PCN Clinical Lead and representation on the local Alliance Federation board and LMC.

We hold daily informal huddles to discuss the day ahead, along with regular structured practice meetings, including whole staff, clinical, safeguarding, and training sessions.

We are passionate about teaching and are a well-respected training practice for GP trainees, Foundation Doctors, and medical students.

Job responsibilities
  • Deliver highly effective medical care to our patient population.
  • Provide services in accordance with the GMS contract.
  • Manage prescriptions following local and national guidelines.
  • Effectively manage long-term conditions.
  • Process administrative tasks promptly, including referrals and repeat prescriptions.
  • Participate in telephone triage and on-call duties on a rotational basis.
  • Maintain accurate clinical records following best practices and guidelines.
  • Collaborate with team members to share workload.
  • Follow clinical guidelines and participate in audits for quality improvement.
  • Take delegated responsibility for specific areas or QOF.
  • Attend and contribute to practice meetings and clinical governance activities.
  • Support training and continuous professional development within the team.
  • Ensure compliance with appraisal and revalidation processes.
  • Support medical student training from various disciplines.
  • Assist partners in achieving strategic goals, including income enhancement and expenditure reduction.
  • Review and adhere to practice protocols and policies.
  • Promote collaborative working and continuous improvement culture.
  • Understand and apply safeguarding policies for vulnerable children and adults.
Person Specification
Qualifications
  • Qualified GP
  • MRCGP
  • Vocational Training Certificate or equivalent JCPTGP
  • Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT)
Experience
  • Primary care experience
  • CPD participation
  • Experience with QOF and clinical audits
  • Understanding of the GMS contract
  • Experience in medicines management
  • Experience with ICB initiatives
Additional requirements

This position requires a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check, in accordance with the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions) Order 1975.
