Job summary

SSE's SSEN Transmission is seeking a Safety, Health & Wellbeing Advisor to join the SHW Team in Scotland, with a focus on development, design, planning and pre-construction activities. The role requires 50% in-office presence at Inverness, Aberdeen or Perth.

You will work with project teams, designers and duty holders to manage SHW risks across the project lifecycle and support design risk management, while ensuring compliance with CDM and safe systems of work.

Qualifications

• Experience applying SHW and CDM requirements across construction or infrastructure projects.
• Qualification in occupational safety, construction safety, CDM, design risk management or related SHW discipline.
• Knowledge of the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations and ability to advise Client/Principal Designer/Designer and duty holders.
• Experience supporting design risk management, Designer Risk Assessments, Pre-Construction Information, construction-phase planning or safe systems of work.

Responsibilities

• Provide proactive SHW and CDM advice to Transmission project teams and directorates, focusing on development, design, planning, pre-construction and advanced works.
• Help identify, assess and manage SHW risks through the project lifecycle with record-keeping of design risk management processes.
• Assist clients, Principal Designer and Designers to comply with CDM regulations and Safe Systems of Work procedures.
• Coordinate development of strategies to manage interfaces, temporary works, surveys, ground investigations and site clearance during construction.
• Conduct assurance activities on and off site, monitor SHW performance and support incident reporting and learning.
