Job summary

SSEN Transmission is seeking a Safety, Health and Wellbeing (SHW) Assurance Specialist based in Scotland. The role is a fixed-term secondment until 30 September 2027, full-time, with the requirement to spend 50% of the week in the office at Perth, Aberdeen or Inverness and occasional travel to sites.

You will lead SHW audits, provide assurance to manage SHW risks, develop a risk-based SHW assurance program, and support Transmission Projects Reviews as part of governance for large capital

Qualifications

• Degree level health or safety qualifications or equivalent knowledge gained through experience in an electricity Networks business or major construction business.
• Lead Auditor qualification and/ or extensive experience preferably gained within an electricity Networks business incorporating best practice into SHW audit processes in large organisations.
• Sound knowledge of the SHW aspects of design, planning, construction, maintenance and operational field practices in the electrical transmission / distribution industry.

Responsibilities

• Play a lead role on SHW Audits and communicate on SHW compliance with SSE Group standards, SSEN Transmission policies and procedures and relevant regulations.
• Provide collaborative SHW Assurance support and guidance to enable the SSEN Transmission Business to manage their SHW risks.
• Support the development of the risk-based SHW Assurance program with relevant aims, objectives and protocols in conjunction with the SHW Assurance Manager.
• Facilitate the management and delivery of Transmission Project Safety Reviews (PSR) which are a critical component of the SSE Large Capital Projects governance process.
• To implement SSE Group and SSEN Transmission requirements, SHW Assurance Specialists are assigned key SHW projects to champion SHW improvements within the SSEN Transmission business.
