About the role

We are hiring a Safety Coordinator for our central London campus (hybrid working). As part of the UCL Safety Services Team, working alongside safety advisors and specialists, the core responsibility is to provide safety advice and support to various departments. This role supports the Head of Safety Governance and Risk in implementing UCL's Health & Safety Strategic Plan.

About you

The essential requirements include:

• Proven experience in Higher Education, local authority, or similar large, complex organizations
• Recognized health and safety qualification (e.g., NEBOSH Certificate) and good knowledge of relevant legislation
• Previous experience as a Safety Coordinator, Safety Administrator, or similar role
• Strong data, numerical, and analytical skills, including interpreting KPIs and metrics
• IOSH membership, demonstrating commitment to professional development
• Ability to produce clear, professional documentation such as policies, reports, and presentations
• Experience overseeing assurance programs, including audits and inspections
• Ability to meet deadlines and manage workload effectively
• Excellent communication skills for liaising with diverse stakeholders
• Self-motivated with flexibility to work to deadlines
• Willingness to undertake a Level 6 health and safety qualification
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Outlook, SharePoint, Teams, PowerBI, and Excel, with understanding of numerical formulas
• Ability to contribute to developing safety strategies and initiatives
• Strong interpersonal skills for building relationships
