Job summary

Itec is seeking a qualified safeguarding professional to lead the organisation's safeguarding and Prevent work in Cardiff. You will ensure policies align with statutory guidance, maintain risk assessments, and support ICT with online safety for young people.

You will deliver training, manage referrals to external agencies, keep detailed records, and provide updates to senior management. DBS checks will be arranged, and the role includes collaboration with HR on staff development.

Qualifications

• Experience with safeguarding and prevent procedures and reporting.
• Currently qualified as a Designated Safeguarding Lead or held a safeguarding qualification
• Recent safeguarding and prevent update training
• Understanding of relevant legislation, policy, guidance and good safeguarding practice
• Experience working with young people in difficulty and crisis
• Willingness to undergo a DBS check (cost covered by the company)

Responsibilities

• Ensuring safeguarding, prevent policies and procedures are up to date with statutory guidance.
• Managing the safeguarding risk assessment and updating it regularly.
• Maintaining GDPR compliant digital safeguarding records.
• First point of contact for staff on safeguarding, welfare and prevent matters.
• Coordinating referrals to external agencies and reporting to local authorities.
• Providing regular reports to Senior Management and Board.
• Delivering safeguarding training and induction for new staff and volunteers.
• Liaising with HR to identify training needs on safeguarding and wellbeing.
