Job summary

Cheshire East Council is seeking an Audit Officer – Quality Assurance (Safeguarding) to coordinate borough-wide auditing programs across Children’s Services and Social Care. The role reports to the Safeguarding Manager and requires strong analytical skills and multi-agency collaboration.

Based at Dalton House with DBS clearance, the post involves developing annual audit plans, producing findings, and contributing to policy updates within safeguarding.

Responsibilities

  • To undertake the role and the implementation of borough wide audit activity and Quality Assurance as directed by the Children's Directorate to implement comprehensive auditing programme across Children's Services, Social Care
  • To contribute to the development of an updated annual programme for auditing; liaising with the relevant personnel who identify cases for audits and ensure all the preparation has been undertaken, provide advice, training and assistance on the auditing task to ensure that audits take place at the required frequency and to the required quality.
  • Use the devised Auditing Tools to collate and analyse the findings of audits. Produce written reports of findings as required.
  • Be key member of and contributor the Auditor Steering Group
  • To keep informed of new developments in relation to policy and practice issues in relation to child protection, cared for children and children in need and post 16 Service.
  • To contribute to the preparation and updating of policies and procedures relating to the work of the Safeguarding Unit and the operation auditing systems where relevant.
  • To assist in the collection and interpretation of management information.
  • To contribute to the production of the Children's Services Plan, the Business Plan and other initiatives relating to work with Children & Families, and Head of Service.
  • To represent the Safeguarding Unit at relevant meetings and undertake any other duties which may be assigned to the post holder by the Director of Children's Services or the Head of Service from time to time if required.
  • The post holder shall carry out his/her duties with full regard to the Council's Equal Opportunities Policy and Community Strategy.
  • Ensure all information received and disseminated, whether verbal or written, concerning all employees, prospective employees or clients, is treated in the strictest confidence, and that all such information held is regulated and controlled in a similar manner.
  • To act at all times with due regard to the Authority's Health and Safety Policies and related Codes of Practice.
