Job summary

First Bus is seeking a Run-Out Supervisor to manage the run-out process at Edgware Garage. You will oversee vehicle allocation, ensure contingency plans, and support drivers and controllers to keep services running smoothly.

The role requires strong communication, IT proficiency, and a valid PCV Licence. You will also perform pre-service checks, coordinate with iBus Control, and contribute to safe, efficient operations during your shift.

Qualifications

• Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, to liaise with engineers and control teams.
• Good IT skills to support operational tasks and record keeping.
• Excellent attendance and reliability for shift-based work.
• PCV Licence held and up to date with current regulations.

Responsibilities

• Supervise run-out operations during assigned shifts at Edgware Garage.
• Conduct pre-service checks to ensure contingency coverage for late departures.
• Allocate vehicles to routes and manage the return vehicle flow and parking plan.
• Liaise with Engineering teams and iBus Control to ensure efficient run-out and run-in.
• Carry out drugs and alcohol testing when required and assist with administration tasks.

Job description

We are looking for aRun-Out Supervisor to join our team atEdgware Garage.

Reporting to theTraffic Manager, this pivotal role ensures the smooth and safe operation of our run-out process, maximising vehicle availability to meet service requirements.

You will need to ensure there is the correct number of vehicles required to cover the service operated for the duty and ensure correct allocation of vehicles to routes. As well as being the primary supervisory in charge during the allocated shift period, you will conduct Pre-service checks to ensure a contingency is in place for late departure and allocate support vehicles, if needed.

Your strong written and verbal communication skills will help you liaise with the Engineering teams and iBus Control to ensure that the run out and run in operates efficiently and efficiency, making sure that the buses are correctly prepared and plated, assisting drivers as required.

Furthermore, you shall be responsible to carry out drugs and alcohol testing when required. Also, assist the Garage management team with various administration tasks. In addition, you will manage the allocation of returning buses ensuring that car parking areas are clear as possible and buses parked safely and in accordance with parking plan.

Candidates should have strong communication skills, IT proficiency, and a flexible approach to working hours.
