Job summary

Seaview Project is seeking an Outreach Worker to verify rough sleeping cases and connect individuals with housing options and specialist support. You will engage with rough sleepers during early hours, building trust to enable daytime access to services.

The role involves developing risk assessments, maintaining safeguarding procedures, and working across partner agencies to ensure timely support and monitoring of outcomes for clients.

The role of the Rough Sleepers Outreach Worker is to verify people as rough sleeping and provide specialist support to enable people who are rough sleeping to utilise all available support to explore housing options.

Working as part of an integrated system, the rough sleepers outreach worker will actively seek out rough sleepers when bedded down in the early hours of the morning and build relationships which enable them to access daytime support to explore housing options.

Key Activities

• Develop and maintain effective, professional relationships with rough sleepers to facilitate best possible outcomes.
• Respond to Street Link and other referrals.
• Assess the housing and resettlement needs on an individual basis and develop support plans in response.
• Provide practical housing related support.
• Assist individuals with finances including benefit claims, budgeting, referring to specialist advisors etc.
• Carry out regular visits to sleep sites.
• Liaise with partner agencies
• Advocate for clients, accompanying them to key appointments as necessary.
• Refer and signpost to other internal and external agencies to achieve best outcomes.
• Risk plan and assess dynamically and consistently, keeping everyone safe.
• Ensure risk assessments and support plans are carried out and reviewed in line with organisational policies and procedures.
• Ensure that all safeguarding, incidents and developing risks/hazards are reported appropriately, in accordance with policy and regulatory practice and in a timely manner.
• Deal with challenging situations with understanding and professionalism.
• Ensure the targets and aims of the project are met, completing all required monitoring records. effectively and efficiently, and that the highest possible professional standards underpin the work.
• Achieve personal targets set by and agreed with the management team.
• Reflect on own practice through supervision and peer support.
• Ensure that policies and procedures are always followed.

This role is at the heart of delivering emergency financial support to residents experiencing hardship. You'll assess applications, make evidence-based decisions, identify safeguarding concerns and help people access wider support that can improve their long-term financial resilience.
