We are looking for a dedicated and versatile individual to join our team as a Rostering Assistant.
Purpose of the Role:
- Working as an IT literate, collaborative team player, support the management team through the provision of efficient rosters using appropriate technology for station, traincrew and other operational ancillary grades by matching available resources subject to competency, availability and other managerial guidance to appropriate instances of work to deliver as a minimum a fully resourced train service, stations estate for ticketing, gateline, dispatch, and ancillary service support grades.
- Ensure rosters produced are within financial authorities and business parameters avoiding waste and ensuring maximum productivity within conditions of service.
- Provide management and exception reporting, analysis and other administrative tasks as directed.
Key Accountabilities:
- Interface with the train planning, operational and station management teams to understand emerging resource requirements and likely impact on rosters.
- Build weekly rosters within codified agreements and employee conditions of service.
- Processing of annual leave, sickness reporting, managerial requests and other absence requests within codified agreements and employee conditions of service.
- Escalating issues such as resource unavailability early to prevent, as far as practicable, late notice service alterations and cancellations.
- Provide accurate information to payroll reflecting hours worked and commensurate payment, ensuring adequate management control to minimise the risk of fraud or error.
- Ensure compliance with the General Data Protection Regulations and that employee confidentiality is maintained at all times
- Update and maintain Rest Day Working and Overtime counts to ensure fair allocation.
- Provide contingent contractor resources as appropriate within codified agreements and employee conditions of service.
Skills and Qualifications Needed:
- General education to GCSE, O level, or equivalent standards including English and Mathematics to the standard of at least GCSE Grade C.
- Strong team player who will collaborate with immediate colleagues and professionally support managerial objectives.
- Thorough knowledge of c2c and Network Rail operations, geography, and train plans, c2c manning agreements, conditions of service, and customer experience metrics, e.g. Schedule 17 or successor agreements.
- Ability to investigate and interpret data thoroughly and accurately, including detailed knowledge and experience with appropriate industry recognised systems and technology.
- Member of an appropriate professional body, e.g., the Chartered Institution of Railway Operators
