We are looking for a dedicated and versatile individual to join our team as a Rostering Assistant.
Purpose of the Role:
- Support the management team by efficiently creating rosters using appropriate technology for station, traincrew, and other operational grades, ensuring resource allocation aligns with competency, availability, and managerial guidance to deliver fully resourced train services and station operations.
- Ensure rosters are within financial and business parameters, avoiding waste and maximizing productivity within the conditions of service.
- Provide management reports, analysis, and perform administrative tasks as directed.
Key Accountabilities:
- Collaborate with train planning, operational, and station management teams to understand resource needs and impacts on rosters.
- Build weekly rosters in accordance with agreements and employee conditions of service.
- Process leave, sickness, managerial requests, and absences within agreements and conditions.
- Escalate resource unavailability issues early to prevent service disruptions.
- Provide accurate payroll information reflecting hours worked to minimize errors and fraud.
- Maintain compliance with GDPR and uphold employee confidentiality.
- Update Rest Day Working and Overtime counts to ensure fair allocation.
- Arrange contingent contractor resources as appropriate within agreements and conditions.
Skills and Qualifications Needed:
- Educational background to GCSE level or equivalent, including English and Mathematics at least GCSE Grade C.
- Strong team player with the ability to collaborate and support managerial objectives.
- Thorough knowledge of c2c and Network Rail operations, geography, train plans, manning agreements, and customer metrics.
- Ability to analyze data accurately using industry-recognized systems and technology.
- Membership in a relevant professional body, e.g., Chartered Institution of Railway Operators.
