Job summary

The Redbrick Day Nursery is seeking a Room Leader to oversee daily operations, ensuring high-quality care and development for children. You will lead the room team, maintain a safe and inclusive environment, and ensure compliance with EYFS and safeguarding standards.

You will mentor staff, support ongoing professional development and help children become confident, independent learners within a supportive team. Strong leadership and communication skills are essential.

Qualifications

• A full and relevant Level 3 early years qualification or above.
• Strong knowledge of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS).
• Experience of leading other staff in a nursery setting.
• Paediatric First Aid qualification, or willingness to complete this.
• Appropriate enhanced DBS clearance is required.
• Ability to plan, observe and assess children’s learning and development.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the room team and allocate duties.
• Ensure staffing ratios meet statutory requirements throughout the day.
• Induct and mentor new staff, apprentices, agency staff and students.
• Plan and deliver high-quality, age-appropriate learning activities.
• Monitor observations, assessments and children’s progress.
• Collaborate with SENCO and external professionals when extra support is needed.
• Promote safeguarding, equality and inclusive practices.
