Job summary

Pebbles and Petals Day Nursery is seeking a Room Leader to oversee a designated room, supervise staff and promote high-quality care and education in line with EYFS. You will lead curriculum delivery, monitor development and support team staff in daily activities.

The role requires strong organisational and leadership skills, effective communication with parents, and safeguarding compliance in a busy nursery environment.

Qualifications

• Level 3 Diploma in Childcare or equivalent.
• Paediatric First Aid qualification.
• Previous childcare experience and ability to supervise staff.

Job Purpose

To lead a specific room within the nursery, ensuring the delivery of high-quality care and education, supervising staff, and promoting children’s learning and development in accordance with EYFS.

Key Responsibilities

Room Management:

• Lead, motivate, and supervise room staff.
• Ensure staffing ratios and room organisation meet statutory requirements.
• Maintain cleanliness, safety, and organisation within the room.

Curriculum & Activities:

• Plan, deliver, and evaluate age-appropriate learning activities.
• Monitor and record children’s development using observation and assessment.
• Provide support and guidance to staff on curriculum delivery.

Parent Communication:

• Build strong relationships with parents and carers.
• Provide regular updates on children’s progress.

Safeguarding & Health & Safety:

• Follow and enforce safeguarding policies.
• Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.

Person Specification

Qualifications:

• Level 3 Diploma in Childcare or equivalent.
• Paediatric First Aid qualification.

Experience:

• Previous experience in a childcare setting.
• Experience supervising or mentoring junior staff preferred.

Skills & Competencies:

• Strong organisational and leadership skills.
• Knowledge of EYFS and child development.
