Job summary

Gateshead Council is seeking a Roofer to undertake roofing work across the Council’s property portfolio, including repairs, refurbishment and upgrades. You’ll support the service via cross-trade tasks, maintain health and safety standards, and help deliver excellent outcomes for residents and staff.

The role may involve some out-of-hours work and requires a proactive, team-based approach to meet customer needs while adhering to safety and procedural guidelines.

Qualifications

• Roofing experience, repairs and maintenance.
• Experience of working at height, on scaffold, and in confined spaces.
• NVQ level 2 and Diploma in Roofing or equivalent qualification or relevant experience.

Responsibilities

• To work individually or as part of a team undertake high quality Bricklaying to a range of Council buildings, housing, and schools.
• To undertake works in association with other trades.
• To undertake minor cross trade work to support the service ‘one front door approach’ and deliver the service customer promise.
• To liaise with customers and subcontractors to provide a responsive service.
• To undertake a continual programme of risk assessment in relation to your role.
• To utilise both electronic and paper-based systems to accurately record the use of labour and materials against each job.
• To demonstrate excellent conduct and behaviour which promotes cross service working to achieve an excellent service provision and outcomes for customers.
• To be proactive in all aspects of health and safety management to comply with current legislation, including CDM Regulations, promoting a culture of good health and safety practice within the working environment, in line with Council policies and procedures.
