Job summary

Gateshead Council is seeking an experienced Roofer to cover repairs, refurbishment and upgrades across the Council’s property portfolio. You will work individually or as part of a team, undertaking bricklaying tasks and allied trades, while supporting the service’s customer-focused approach.

The role emphasises safety, proactivity in risk assessment, and collaboration to deliver positive outcomes for residents and staff. Flexible and hybrid working options may apply where possible.

Qualifications

• Experience of bricklaying on council buildings, housing or schools.
• Commitment to high quality workmanship and safety.
• Ability to work with other trades and follow instruction.

Responsibilities

• Carry out bricklaying and roofing tasks for the Council’s property portfolio.
• Undertake related cross-trade works to support the service.
• Liaise with customers and subcontractors to deliver responsive service.
• Participate in risk assessments and maintain accurate records of labour and materials.
• Adhere to health and safety standards and CDM regulations.
