Job summary

Gateshead Council is seeking an Electrician to cover repairs, refurbishment and upgrades across the Council’s housing portfolio. You’ll work within a team, undertake cross-trade support, and be part of an on-site service operating from 8am to 8pm with occasional out-of-hours work.

You will ensure safe working conditions, follow CDM regulations, and engage with customers and subcontractors to deliver quality outcomes. Hybrid and flexible options are available.

Qualifications

• Health and Safety procedures and regulations.
• The Construction Industry.
• Electrical experience repairs and maintenance.
• Undertaking all aspects of Electrical works.
• Experience of and ability to work at height, on scaffold, and in confined spaces.
• NVQ level 2 and Diploma Electrical qualification or relevant experience.
• Full driving license or access to mobility support.
• Current CSCS Card or willing to work towards qualification.
• Willingness to take part in any additional corporate or trade training as required.

Responsibilities

• Undertake high-quality electrical work across Council housing portfolio.
• Coordinate works with other trades.
• Support cross-trade tasks to deliver the service promise.
• Liaise with customers and subcontractors to provide responsive service.
• Conduct ongoing risk assessments for your role.
• Record labour and materials using electronic and paper systems.
• Be proactive on health and safety, comply with CDM and council policies.
