Job summary

Siemens Mobility in Northampton is seeking a Rolling Stock Engineer to join the Asset Maintenance Optimisation team. You will support train systems across the fleet, optimise component performance and lifecycle costs, and drive reliability and safety improvements.

Qualifications

• Proven experience of Rolling Stock Optimisation and condition assessment activities, vehicle maintenance planning and vehicle associated systems, including Reliability Centred Maintenance (RCM).
• A relevant engineering qualification or equivalent engineering experience.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Good knowledge of modern IT systems and engineering software tools. Including the creation and use of current Agentic AI tools to aid workflows.
• The ability to investigate technical issues, analyse data and develop practical engineering solutions.
• Strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams.
• A proactive approach to problem solving and continuous improvement.
• The ability to work independently and be able to deliver timebound projects against agreed project plans.

Responsibilities

• Leading investigations into rolling stock engineering issues, technical incidents and safety-related defects, identifying root causes and implementing sustainable solutions.
• Optimising maintenance and lifecycle costs through engineering analysis and strategy development.
• Delivering engineering improvements and modifications via technical specifications, risk assessments and business cases.
• Providing technical leadership across the supply chain by liaising with suppliers and customers.
• Championing continuous improvement and sharing best practices to enhance fleet performance.
• Ensuring adherence to health, safety and environmental standards while supporting railway operations.
