Job summary

Cellular Origins is seeking a Test and Development Engineer to join our Constellation system team. You’ll work with engineers and scientists to develop, integrate, and test robotic automation components, ensuring performance, reliability, and compliance.

Initially you’ll build test strategies and protocols, diagnose faults, and contribute to verification activities, with a path to formal verification and release documentation.

Qualifications

• A strong engineering background gained either by degree or vocational route.
• Proven experience of testing and verification, and troubleshooting complex mechatronics systems, preferably within a product development environment.
• Robust technical analysis and documentation skills including generating Test Protocols and Test Reports.
• Capable of applying statistical and data analysis, simulation, and engineering modelling techniques to evaluate product performance, predict behaviour, and generate actionable insights that drive design improvement.
• Ability to identify failure modes, conduct structured root cause investigations, and implement data-driven corrective actions to improve product reliability and robustness.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in interdisciplinary teams and fast-paced environments.
• A solid understanding of robotic automation system and robot integration, control systems, and testing methodologies.
• Familiar with modern programming languages such as Python and robotic software frameworks (ROS).
• Experience working within development of robotic automation systems and robots.

Responsibilities

• Develop and integrate system elements, create test strategies, plans and protocols, run procedures, and evaluate performance for reliability.
• Diagnose faults, provide feedback to design teams, and propose solutions for mechatronics systems.
• In the longer term, transition to formal verification, generate protocols, manage changes, maintain traceability, and oversee verification activities and reporting.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure high standards of performance, reliability and compliance in a fast-paced environment.
