Job summary

Applied Intuition UK is seeking a Robotics Software Engineer to join a defence-focused team in London. You will work across hardware and software to advance autonomy on diverse platforms, including in SIL/HIL environments and on UAVs. The role blends field work with office development and customer-oriented delivery.

Applicants should have 3+ years in robotics, strong C++, and experience with Pixhawk/PX4; security clearance is favored. Travel to sites and offices is expected as needed.

Qualifications

• BS or MS in Robotics, Computer Science, or related engineering field.
• 3+ years hands-on experience with robotic systems (hardware, software, and integration).
• Experience with modern C++ and autonomy behavior/decision-making logic (behavior trees/state machines).
• Experience integrating autonomy products with Pixhawk autpilots (ArduPilot/PX4).
• Experience with comms buses: UART/RS232/RS422/RS485, SPI/QSPI, I2C, Ethernet.
• Experience developing in Docker and Linux-based OS (RHEL/Ubuntu).

Responsibilities

• Develop and adapt mission behavior, navigation, and decision-making logic for defense platforms and missions.
• Design modular autonomy capabilities reusable across different vehicle types and programs.
• Integrate and deploy autonomy solutions onto embedded Linux and hardware platforms; interface with sensors.
• Conduct system-level setup, testing, and validation (SIL/HIL).
• Support live flight tests of autonomy software on UAVs (Group 1-5).
• Troubleshoot complex software and integration issues to ensure reliability and performance.
• Collaborate with 3rd party UAS vendors and cross-functional teams to bring autonomy software to life.
