Job summary

Applied Intuition UK, based in London, is seeking a Robotics Software Engineer to advance defense autonomy platforms. You will couple hardware and software, implement mission behaviors, and validate through SIL/HIL tests on diverse vehicle platforms.

You’ll work with embedded Linux, Docker, and modern C++, interfacing with sensors, UAVs, and PX4/ArduPilot stacks while traveling to customer sites as needed. A UK security clearance is preferred.

Qualifications

  • BS or MS in Robotics, Computer Science, or related engineering field
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with robotic systems (hardware, software, and integration)
  • Experience with modern C++
  • Experience developing autonomy behavior and decision-making logic (e.g., behavior trees, state machines) and/or navigation algorithms
  • Experience integrating autonomy/robotics products with Pixhawk autopilots (ArduPilot and/or PX4)
  • Experience integrating with communication buses & protocols: UART/RS232/RS422/RS485, SPI/QSPI, I2C, Ethernet
  • Experience developing in Docker, containerized deployment environments, and using Linux-based operating systems (e.g., RHEL, Ubuntu)
  • Familiarity with real-time, edge computing, and safety-critical systems operating in SIL/HIL
  • Excellent communication skills and a customer-oriented project delivery mindset

Responsibilities

  • Develop and adapt mission behavior, navigation, and decision-making logic for defense platforms and missions
  • Design and implement modular autonomy capabilities reusable across vehicle types
  • Integrate and deploy autonomy solutions onto embedded Linux and hardware platforms with sensors
  • Conduct system-level setup, testing, and validation (SIL/HIL)
  • Support live flight tests of autonomy software on UAVs
  • Troubleshoot complex software and integration issues for reliability across the stack
  • Collaborate with 3rd party UAS vendors and cross-functional teams to bring autonomy software to life on OEM hardware
