Job summary

Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to support dispensing, wards and stores on the John Radcliffe Hospital site. The role includes training new staff, handling labelling, dispensing, and patient counselling, with weekend rota involvement.

You will work with electronic prescribing and a robotic system, ensuring accurate drug distribution and high service quality within the Trust’s compassionate care framework.

Qualifications

• Qualified Pharmacy Technician with NVQ Level 3 or equivalent, registered with GPhC.
• Comprehensive dispensary experience in hospital or community.
• Experience in training/supervision of staff.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills.
• Team player aligned with Trust values.
• Experience with automated dispensing system.
• Able to adapt to change.
• Medicines Optimisation (MMT) accreditation.
• Strong time management and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Dispensing, labelling and checking duties in the dispensary.
• Support workload monitoring and KPI tracking.
• Provide co-ordinator support to the dispensary team.
• Assist in training and induction of new staff and trainees.
• Ward-based medicines reconciliation and one-stop ordering.
• Answer queries from service users and provide patient counselling.
• Support stores duties including stock management and deliveries.
• Work with electronic prescribing and robotic labelling/dispensing system.
