Job summary

Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Registered Pharmacy Technician to join The John Radcliffe Pharmacy department, working in dispensary and on wards to support hospital patients.

The role covers labelling, dispensing and checking duties, co-ordinator support in dispensary, training of new staff, ward-based medicines reconciliation, patient counselling, and stock management, with exposure to electronic prescribing and robotic systems.

Qualifications

• NVQ level in Pharmacy services or equivalent recognised qualification.
• Must be registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).

The John Radcliffe Pharmacy department is looking for Registered Pharmacy Technician to join them! This is an exciting opportunity for those who would like to gain hospital experience, working both in dispensary & on the wards.

The post holders will support both our Dispensary and Clinical services and ensure that our patients receive the best care possible. This opportunity is ideal for those would like to gain hospital pharmacy experience. Applicants must hold the NVQ level in Pharmacy services or equivalent recognised qualification, applicants must also be registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council.

Main duties of the job

The Pharmacy Technician role is varied, and requires flexibility in your approach to work, supporting both dispensary, stores and ward-based work on the John Radcliffe Hospital site. The successful applicant will be required to assist in the smooth running of the dispensary, providing co-ordinator support to the dispensary team together with our Senior Technicians, or in the absence of the Senior Technician, and at weekends. You will support the training and induction of new members of the team, pharmacy apprentices, trainee technicians and pharmacists working alongside you.

This role includes labelling, dispensing and checking duties, monitoring of workload and our tracking screen to support our TTO KPI, patient counselling and much more! Ward based tasks will include assessing of patients own drugs, medicines reconciliation and one stop ordering. Excellent customer service skills are essential in this role as you will answer the phone, dealing with queries from our service users, and cover both staff and out-patient reception. Stores responsibilities include supporting ward and fluid top up services to clinical areas, receipting of deliveries and stock management processes.

We are lucky to be supported by ever evolving technology, with electronic prescribing and a robot to support the labelling and dispensing of medications. The successful applicant will be trained in the full use of the robotic system on either site.
