Job summary

Pact Coffee, Haslemere Roastery, is seeking an experienced Operations Manager to lead health and safety, SOPs and continuous improvement across Production, Roasting and Procurement & Inventory. You will drive reliability, safety and efficiency with a hands-on approach and coordinate with external contractors.

Responsibilities cover H&S ownership, SOP management, maintenance oversight and cross-team collaboration to raise standards and audit readiness in a fast-paced FMCG environment.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in a manufacturing or production environment, ideally hands-on, FMCG/food background.
• Strong practical Health & Safety experience with IOSH or NEBOSH qualification.
• Experience managing site SOPs, including creating, reviewing and implementing procedures and controls.
• Proven experience identifying problems, finding root causes and delivering practical continuous improvements.
• Hands-on approach to resolving operational, process and equipment issues.
• Strong communication skills, with the ability to work across teams and influence people without direct authority.

Responsibilities

• Own Health & Safety, maintain and develop H&S standards across the Roastery, manage risk.
• Manage SOPs and operational standards: own the site SOP framework and procedures.
• Improve operations using manufacturing experience to enhance safety, reliability and efficiency.
• Investigate recurring issues, identify root causes and implement solutions.
• Drive continuous improvement projects across Operations and help teams implement changes.
• Oversee planned preventive maintenance and equipment reliability, coordinate with contractors.
• Support change with practical manufacturing input when introducing new equipment or processes.
• Maintain HACCP, GMP and BRCGS compliance and audit readiness.
• Collaborate with management to improve standards and performance across Operations.
