Job summary

Octane Recruitment Ltd is seeking a Roadside Technician for a field-based role in the UK. You will attend roadside breakdowns, perform mechanical and electrical repairs at the roadside, and use diagnostics to determine repair options.

The role offers flexibility, overtime opportunities, and strong progression potential. Typical schedule is 40 hours per week with shifts from early morning to late night, including overnights as needed.

Qualifications

• Must have Level 2 qualification in light vehicle maintenance and repair, or Level 3 equivalent.
• Minimum 2 years’ post-qualification hands-on vehicle experience.
• Full UK driving licence – max 6 points, no bans.

Responsibilities

• Attend roadside breakdowns and assess faults quickly and accurately.
• Carry out roadside mechanical and electrical repairs (battery, wheel changes, minor fixes).
• Use diagnostic tools to identify issues and repair options.
• Provide temporary solutions when full repair isn’t possible to keep members mobile.
• Advise members clearly on next steps, including recovery if needed.
• Work safely in varied environments and conditions.
