Octane Recruitment is seeking a Roadside Technician in Oxford for a national breakdown company. This Patrol - Superflex role features flexible scheduling, higher base pay to reflect the flexibility, and strong earning potential.

Attend roadside breakdowns, perform repairs at the roadside, advise members on next steps, and work across varied locations. The package includes overtime, a bonus scheme, pension contributions, life cover and well-being support.

Qualifications

• Minimum Level 2 qualification in light vehicle maintenance and repair (Level 3 preferred).
• At least 2 years' post-qualification hands-on vehicle experience.
• Customer-focused approach and strong diagnostic skills.
• Full UK driving licence with max 6 points (no bans).

Responsibilities

• Attend roadside breakdowns and assess faults quickly and accurately.
• Carry out roadside repairs including battery replacements and wheel changes.
• Use diagnostic tools to identify issues and repair options.
• Provide temporary solutions when full repair isn't possible.
• Advise members on next steps, including recovery if needed.
• Work safely in varied environments and conditions.

Roadside Technician - Superflex role (field-based), providing roadside assistance for a national breakdown company with over 15 million members. Great salary, benefits, overtime and bonus opportunities.

In a Roadside Technician Patrol - Superflex role, you'll be part of our most agile and responsive unit - ready to support drivers when they need it most. This role is designed for those who can offer extra flexibility around changing schedules, less sociable hours, and shorter notice periods. The basic salary is substantially higher than a standard Patrol Technician to compensate for the flexibility needed for this role.

Pay / salary: £50,669 OTE: OTE: In Excess of £57,000, opportunity to earn 70-80k+

Shift and schedule for the Roadside Technician role

40 hours per week, averaged over the year. Scheduling visibility - working pattern issued seven days in advance, with 72 hours' notice for the specific hours. Working hours range from 6.00am to 2.00am, with occasional overnight stays. Rest and recovery - 11 hours of rest between shifts and a minimum of two days off every fortnight. Shift hours may be reduced or withdrawn with a day's notice, so it's important that you can be adaptable. Shift times - shifts may start early, finish late, or fall on any day of the week. Job Responsibilities for the Roadside Technician role

• Attend roadside breakdowns and assess vehicle faults quickly and accurately.
• Carry out mechanical and electrical repairs at the roadside, including battery replacements, wheel changes, and minor engine fixes.
• Use diagnostic tools to identify issues and determine repair options.
• Provide temporary solutions when full repair isn't possible, ensuring member mobility.
• Advise members clearly on next steps, including recovery if needed.
• Work safely and efficiently in varied environments and conditions.

What you'll need to be considered for the Roadside Technician role

• Must have a minimum Level 2 qualification in light vehicle maintenance and repair, or ideally a Level 3 light vehicle maintenance and repair qualification (City & Guilds, IMI, NVQ, or equivalent).
• Must have a minimum of 2 years' post-qualification hands-on experience with vehicles, either in a workshop or a mobile vehicle role.
• A customer-focused approach.
• Must have a full UK driving licence - max 6 points, no bans.
