Job summary

Octane Recruitment Ltd is seeking a Roadside Technician for a national breakdown company. This field-based role supports drivers with roadside assistance, offering a higher base salary and substantial overtime and bonus opportunities. You will handle roadside faults, perform quick repairs, and use diagnostic tools in varying conditions.

Hours are 40 per week with flexible scheduling; salary £55,869 (incl. LWA), with OTE up to £61,000 and benefits.

Qualifications

• Must have Level 2 or Level 3 light vehicle maintenance and repair qualification.
• Must have a minimum 2 years post-qualification hands on experience with vehicles.
• Must have a full UK driving licence - max 6 points, no bans

Responsibilities

• Attend roadside breakdowns and assess vehicle faults quickly and accurately.
• Carry out mechanical and electrical repairs at the roadside, including battery replacements, wheel changes, and minor engine fixes.
• Use diagnostic tools to identify issues and determine repair options.
• Provide temporary solutions when full repair isn’t possible, ensuring member mobility.
• Advise members clearly on next steps, including recovery if needed.
• Work safely and efficiently in varied environments and conditions.

Job description

Roadside Technician – Superflex role (Field based) providing roadside assistance for a national breakdown company with over 15 million members. Great salary, benefits, overtime and bonus opportunities.

In a Roadside Technician Patrol - Superflex role, you’ll be part of our most agile and responsive unit – ready to support drivers when they need it most. This role is designed for those who can offer extra flexibility around changing schedules, less sociable hours, and shorter notice periods. The basic salary is substantially higher than a standard Patrol Technician to compensate for the flexibility needed for this role.

Must have right to work in the UK status.

Pay / salary: £55,869 (inclusive of LWA) OTE: Up to £61,000

Job type: Permanent / Full time role

Shift and schedule for the Roadside Technician role

40 hours per week, averaged over the year. Scheduling visibility – working pattern issued seven days in advance, with 72 hours’ notice for the specific hours. Working hours range is 6.00am – 02.00am, occasional overnight stay. Rest and recovery – 11 hours of rest between shifts and a minimum of two days off every fortnight.

Shift hours may be reduced or withdrawn with a day’s notice, so it’s important that you can be adaptable. Shift times – shifts may start early, finish late, or fall on any day of the week. That’s the Superflex commitment.

What you’ll need to a be considered for the Roadside Technician role

• Must have a minimum of Level 2 in light vehicle maintenance and repair or ideally Level 3 light vehicle maintenance and repair qualification (City & Guilds, IMI, NVQ, or equivalent)
• Must have a minimum 2-year post-qualification hands on experience with vehicles. Either in a workshop or mobile vehicle type role.
• Must have a full UK driving licence - max 6 points, no bans
